In her function as Chair of the Board of Directors of CABB AG in Pratteln, CABB Group’s CEO Valerie Diele-Braun was part of a delegation of business and financial representatives joining Ueli Maurer, President of the Swiss Confederation, on a state visit to China to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing.
Between April 23-29, the Swiss delegation met with leading representatives of politics and business, including Li Keqiang and Liu He – the Premier and Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China – as well as President Xi Jinping, who hosted a special lunch for the delegation. On the corporate side, discussion partners inclued Jack Ma, Founder and CEO of the Alibaba Group, and Yiming Zhang, CEO of ByteDance.
Topics discussed with the Chinese partners ranged from the use of new digital technologies in the private sector to reciprocal trade facilitation and experiences when cooperating with Chinese joint venture partners.
The last point was especially relevant in relation to CABB’s Jining site, says Diele-Braun. “The invitation to be part of this delegation was a great opportunity to position the CABB brand at the highest levels of politics and business in China. Even more important than this, though, was the chance to discuss specific problems, such as in trade and production.”
