The “AHA” effect of Glycolic Acid

Glycolic Acid is one of the most effective Alpha-Hydroxyacetic Acids (AHA). In fact the smallest AHA molecule in size, it is readily biodegradable, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) exempt, non-flammable and safe to handle. Due to its versatile applicability it is used in many different industries. CABB produces Glycolic Acid based on Monochloroacetic Acid in a dedicated plant in Gersthofen (Germany) and is the only producer in Europe. With more than 50 years of experience in the production of Glycolic Acid CABB offers the highest level of quality and safety standards. Our synthesis route avoids the presence of Methoxyacetic Acid and is therefore clearly your best choice.

Glytech™ Basic:

Technical grade of Glycolic Acid comes as aqueous solution either in 57% or 70% concentration. They are both used for household, institutional and industrial cleaners as they are effective at dissolving Casein and the formed salts are better soluble than e.g. Phosphates.

It is an outstanding alternative through its ability to simultaneously clean and disinfect.

Being added to antiscalant or concrete remover formulations Glycolic Acid can help to significantly decrease process downtime.

During the manufacturing of phenolic resins, Glytech™ Basic is a mild organic acid allowing the resins to cure more slowly.

Glytech™ Basic is available in drums of 250 kg and IBC of 1250 kg.

Glycos™ Clear:

Glycos™ Clear is our premium grade AHA and one of the most popular ingredients for anti-aging products such as chemical peelings.

Its excellent capability to penetrate the top layer of skin promotes the natural cell-loss process and improves turnover rate of skin cells.

By weakening the lipid bonds that hold dead skin cells together Glycolic Acid may help to reveal the underlying skin, giving you a healthier and younger look and feel.

Glycos™ Clear 70% is available in drums of 25 kg, 70 kg and 250 kg.

CABB‘s manufacturing unit for Sodium Acetate is located in Gersthofen (Germany) and ISO 22000 certified.

Sodium Acetate in the corresponding quality is referred to as food additive E262. It is used as a flavour, as an acidity regulator or a germ inhibitor in various foodstuffs. Beside that Sodium Acetate is listed in the European Pharmacopeia and may be used in the preparation of dialysis solutions and the production of insulin. Also rehydration solutions for weakened animals may contain Sodium Acetate as a supportive treatment aid.

Technical applications encompass many industries and markets with its main performance being an additive for

ph adjustment, either in leather tanning or textile dyeing or formulations that are used for mining and drilling activities.

Sodium acetate anhydrous (SAA) is the water-free sodium salt of Acetic Acid and it is offered as spherical granulate so the available delivery forms differ in the distribution of the grain size. It is available either in bags of 25 kg or Big Bags with different filling weights.

Sodium acetate trihydrate (SAT) is crystallized as flakes and milled to powder if necessary.

It is available in bags of 25 kg.

Sodium Acetate Solution in concentrations of 30% and 57% are available in bulk containers only.

Those solutions are either used for metal surface treatment or thermal energy storage where Sodium Acetate acts as a Phase Changing Material (PCM). Waste heat from industrial processes is conducted into specially designed containers and stored there. Once the solution starts to crystallize this energy will be released and after being connected to the customer’s heating system can be used as a rolling energy source. This concept has been mainly designed for public buildings such as schools, swimming baths and hospitals.

Nature-based innovative chemistry

For more than a century CABB has been one of the leading western producers of Terpenes. Its dedicated manufacturing unit located on the site in Gersthofen (Germany) operates a highly efficient technical production process for Camphene (CAM), Isobornyl Acetate (IBA) and Depanol (DEP).

Camphene is an almost colourless crystalline mass with a characteristic turpentine-like odour. It is freely soluble in the common organic solvents but virtually insoluble in water. Camphene and its Derivatives are used in the cosmetic and perfume industries. It is employed on an industrial scale to manufacture synthetic Camphor and Isobornyl esters, furthermore as a starting material in the synthesis of terpenephenolic resins, as a plasticizer for resins, paints and as a starting material in the synthesis of acrylates and methacrylates (IBOMA).

On account of its pine-needle odour Isobornyl Acetate is used as an individual ingredient in perfume compositions such as bath preparations, soap perfumes, room deodorants and toilet freshener blocks. In detergents, in addition to its role as an aesthetic adjuvant, Isobornyl Acetate may increase the grade of thickening. For liquid aqueous crop protection formulations it may be used as a naturally derived solvent.

Depanol, predominantly a mixture of various menthadiens, is a virtually colourless, neutral solvent with a terpene-like odour. It is an excellent solvent for fats, drying and semi-drying oils. It is miscible with most plasticizers.

Depanol is a good solvent for rosin, ketone and ester resins, xylene-formaldehyde resins, plasticized resols,  carbamic acid ester resin, urea-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins, terpene-phenolic resins and polyacrylates  On account of its excellent solvent properties, Depanol is particularly suitable for use in the manufacture of oil and alkyd resin paints.
